3.2 swap: engine prep
Im getting my '86 Carrera motor ready for install into my '72. Here's a list of 'while youre in there' things that I currently will have done before it goes back in. Please review and let me know if Im leaving anything crucial out.
-replace thermostat o-ring -replace breather cover gasket -replace oil cooler seals -replace 3.2 oil pressure sender, oil temp sender with equivalant '72 parts -replace oil pressure idiot light switch -replace intake manifold insulators and gaskets -pressure washed engine and powdercoated tin Im intentioanlly leaving out the oil return tubes because they look new and I really dont want to take a chance on breaking any exhasut studs, BTDT. Im also leaving out the flywheel seal because I dont want to mess around with the clutch/flywheel since it is also fairly new. parts list K-707-314-40 Engine Thermostat O-Ring, 911/911 Turbo (1974-89) K-704-172-50 Oil Cooler Seal, small, 2 required, 911 (1965-89) K-704-173-50 Oil Cooler Seal, large, 1 per cooler, 911 (1974-89) H-107-791-02 Crankcase Top Breather Cover Gasket, 911/911 Turbo C-606-230-00 Oil Pressure Switch, 911/911 Turbo (1969-89) A-741-551-01 Oil Pressure Sender, Without Sealing Ring, 911 (1965-73), Each A-641-632-00 Temperature Sending Unit, for numbered gauge (requires 1 J-123-007-30 sealing ring), 911 (1969-73) N-013-808-3 Sealing Ring, For Above Sender, 911 (1965-72), Each J-123-007-30 Sealing Ring, For Above Sender, 14 x 18mm, 911 (1969-73), Each -------------------------- total: ~$200 |

Did you already purchase two new flywheel sensors? I know you discussed doing so in a previous thread.

yeah, I did discuss it. I havent ordered them yet I really may just take a chance on not replacing them. Those things are $125 each

Sherman what did you have to do to the 72 to intall the 3.2? I'm now thinking 3.2 now rather than 3.6. Have been reading up on the 3.6 install but haven't done any research on it.

PJ, its not installed yet. Im just getting everything ready. I did a lot of research on the 3.6 and I decided to go with a 3.2 because I found a really great deal on a nice motor and I really didnt want to put flares on my car for the wider tires. Seems like it might be a little easier of a swap to pull off
