Needed, Wurth Undercoat gun

Does anyone have a Wurth undercoat gun that they want to sell, rent or let me borrow. I need to respray my front and rear valence's and the rocker panel areas on my car.
Is there a possible inexpensive alternative to buying the Wurth gun.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rich I am in your area and I think I need it too. Hmm. Does the wurth undercoat need to be painted after it is applied?

I did my tank with a craftman sandblaster or you can buy a cheapo from harbor freight tools

Finally finished my gas tank!

WOW, $7.00 for the gun. I think I can handle that.

Andy, the coating that goes on the rocker panels and the valences does need to be painted. I stripped all of that coating off along with three coats of paint. I kind of wish I didn't take the undercoating off.

Andy, I am not sure what your application is. What I am going for is the original look on the rockers and the valences. the product that everyone seems to recomend is the SKS Stone Guard.

No need to paint just spray and let dry. Plus it cleans up with H2O .If memory serves me right I believe wurth SKS is paintable Just depends on the application. Some like it black while others prefer to color match.

I see. My application is undercoating a ratty track valance, I just want to leave it black, not paint over. I Also need to spray some edges of metal that have been cut to seal them up again. Those are hidden and don't need to be anything other than black either.

Rich/Andy

I bought a gun similar to the HF item and found that it does not fit the Wurth containers. The Wurth bottle necks are about 1/2 inch narrower and the bottles are quite tall -- about 10-11 inches, so the pickups don't extend down far enough to access the full contents.

I ended up extending the pick-up and "adapting" the neck with duct tape. As hokey as this sounds, it does work. I just re-coated my gas tank with SKS stone guard. The finish is virtually identical to the original.

Either or both of you are welcome to borrow this gun and the highly customized pick-up. I'm sure you've got the duct tape part covered.

Just let me know. I'll be at Second Creek over the weekend, so if you are going, we might be able to get get together there. Otherwise PM me with a phone number if you want to use the gun.

Joe

Has anyone used product called 3M Rocker Schutz. The gun available from Harbor Freight works with this product without any modifications. It is basically the same price as the Wurth SKS.

I haven't used that 3M product, but have experimented with several others (another 3M, SEM, and a couple less prominent names.) A lot depends on whether you are trying to reproduce the OEM factory finish. AFIK, the only product which does that is WURTH SKS Stoneguard. I think this is mostly due to the fact that the Wurth product is a water based PVC. I haven't used any other water based coatings. All of the others that I've played with are solvent based, and produce a completely different texture. The gun is less important -- most guns seem to produce the correct finish as long as they are spraying the right stuff.

Pics are below. I first stripped the tank using (alternately) a wire cup on a drill and paint stripper. Then coated with POR-15, and then the stoneguard.
