Pre-roadtrip-TURBO tail help!
alright... fresh 3.3L is runing a bit hot...
the only thing i changed was the tail.. it was a prop'ed open decklid (becuse it wouldent fit over the intercooler and it ran right at 190F now i put a factory tail on an NA decklid on it and it runs above 220F! i cut the thing so that the intercooler would fit.. should i cut more? I dont know how the factory tail is cut... I know im doing something wrong here.. |
|
Yes, cut the rest of it out. The factory tail is open all the way across. What is happening is that you are sucking hot air coming from your inter cooler and into the fan. You are "cooling" your engine with hot air.....

the mother f-er is as big as i could get it now...
thanks |
On a standard 930 tail the rest of the material on the deck lid (to the right of the inter cooler) is also cut out. If you look at your picture, the material just to the right of what you cut for the inter cooler needs to be removed also. This will allow more air to come in for the engine cooling. I think that little bit will help alot.
Try it and see what happens....http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif |
we will see... i haven't even ducted my front cooler yet.. so i hope this and the ducting gives me enough thermal reserves for PHX track days.

I don't have a turbo and this isn't a factory tail but this is how big the opening was made to put the turbo tail (tea tray) on. Hope this helps |
Jesset100,
That is exactly the size I was talking about. Nick, try to make yours that size and I think you will be pleased. Good luck.... |
