steering???

I have a 1980 911 SC, Every time i make a right hand turn the steering makes a whining noise. Does anyone know what this is? Do i have to replace the steering rack?

Steering or wheels? You may want to check the bearings, also check the calipers for binding. Anyone else have a better suggestion?

I'm pretty sure it's coming from the steering...it even makes the sound when the car is not moving and i turn the steering wheel to the right.

Maybe you just need to repack the steering rack. That or also look at the tie rods. Do a search - I know there were some threads on rebuilding the steering rack. Good luck and keep us posted.

If it had power steering I'd say it was low on power steering fluid like any normal car.
