That makes you want to go out and do damage to the pr**ks that did that. Take the freaking stereo, if you must, but don't damage the car doing it. Man!

I've always made my stereos pretty easy to pop out if somebody wants it that bad.

In Texas, we can shoot people if we catch them doing that to our cars.

It's kinda common for the same person to break into your car right after you get it fixed They've already been in the car, and they know that there's a brand-spankin' new stereo in it.

It does suck that someone will cause hundreds or thousands of dollars of damage to rip off even a hundred dollar stereo.

I caught mine, about 10 days after my stereo got stolen the first time. The cops caught him down the alley with about 15 decks and some speakers in his trunk. In the car, 4 sixteen-year old kids, some screwdrivers, some baseball bats, and a rottweiler. I'm glad I didn't run out into the parking lot in my pajamas like a tough guy.

I have a Rottweiler and I usually let her sit in my car with the windows down to avoid people parking next to me

Glad to see your car fixed.

Just run out with a loaded AR15. That's what I'd do.

4 teenage punks, screwdrivers, baseball bats and a rottweiler against me and 30 rounds of .223.

I WIN.

can't believe the stereo they wrestled out of there was in any decent shape after that. This is one reason I don't put a high end stereo in my cabriolet. I've had two tops cut and a window broken (all three times the car doors were unlocked) on less expensive cars -

IIRC, that Alpine has a security feature that allows you to insert one of your favorite CD's as a "security key". In order for the stereo to work, that CD and only that CD can activate the head unit.

Also, where are you parking to have this happen to you twice?

Sorry about the damage.....

The problem is that the thief doesn't know that the head unit has a security feature. That happend to me with an Eclipse stereo. He destroyed my dash for a worthless stereo....to him.

Sorry about the damage-- have you tried a stereo with a detachable face plate?

I put in a stereo I got from Ebay with a reversing face plate for less than $200 bucks and it looks just like a radio delete plate

I have yet to have someone break into my car. I have a good friend that works at an audio shop and before I put my deck in he installed a really nice Shelby alarm that pages me whenever someone even touches the car. It tells me exactly where on the car the sensor was set off too. Pages up to a mile away. Its worth every penny of $600. Sorry about your lose(s).

Thats' what they did to my Targa. Not only was the radio gone and the dask looked like yours- they also cut the Targa top! What I learned: true beauty is to be found in the engine compartment not on shiny paint.

well here in miami they steal the whole car, but with lojac you get it back right away. the thieves are usually pro's and they get busted with lojac so much that now they take the car and do as little damage as possible then park the car for 24 hrs. if its got lojac the cops show up and take it away if not they pick it up again and take it to the port. My pickup has been stolen twice both times founf it within a few hours got it back with a broken window and stearing column. And yes here we shoot them too. so no time screwing around inthe car trying to bust out a stereo

Cdnone, I'm jealous of your deadpedal. Did you make that yourself or buy it from the PP site? I want one but I can't justify shelling out $75 for molded sheetmetal.....

Sorry for the off-topic post....I feel your pain....

San Jose? Well not exactly legal but shooting would solve the problem.
Re-occurence 0,
Spreading the word onto others 0,
I know its kind of hard in a suburb, but if you can follow these fools around the corner and then plug em your in the clear.
Save the whole area some time.
Dont retrieve your radio from the stack either. No prints. No blood.
On second thought borrow a gun, if your stolen radio traces back to you and your registered gun ballistics to you, big trouble.

Shotgun works best. Some guy was breaking into my dads car about 5 years ago and all he did was walk out the front door and chamber his shotgun and just the sound was enough to make the thieves run as fast as they could.
