Storing a Transmission
I have a 915 trans. from my '73 that I want to store for a few years (in case I blow up the type 911 tranny I - uh - transplanted into my car). I drained the old fluid out.
Now - is there any advantage to putting new fluid in? - It won't cover much of the gears w/o movement of the gears. - It will reduce the amount of air space for water to condense in somewhat. So, ?? And any other advice on storing it? It's in a garage in the Pacific NW, so it should be in a non-condensing atmosphere - mostly... Thanks, folks!

Iwould install fresh lube and keep it high and dry, wrap it in tyvek or something like that. There are all sorts of nasty gasses coming up through floors.
