need help with value of 91 964 turbo no engine

Ok I posted this on rennlist
So I looked at the car today, and need your input. The car has the motor out and tranny. The motor locked up from no oil and is missing at this time. The car has 70k miles. The paint looks ok 5 out of 10. the inside is about the same. The guy has had the motor out for over four years and the car has been sitting out side in the backyard in south Fl.
The car to me looks like it needs alot of work. MOTOR/ clucth, brakes, masters, rotors, slave, new wheel bearings, shock, tires, etc.... Just to get it back on the road. Also will need new paint with weather molding.

Ok so my question is what kind of value would you place on this car.
Or what kind of price would be a great deal
Thanks
Mark

parts car. it will cost a fortune. a wrecking yard would pay maybe $5K for it, and probably less, because the value of the deteriorated parts remaining is minimal.

So you say 5k for the car. I was thinking 7-10k to high

It's a parts car. Why waste a lot of money trying to "save" this car.

Coilovers, big brakes and widebody...sounds like a start to a great track car.

What's your goal? If the interior is ratty it will take a lot to put the car back to being a nice driver.

klein930 10-16-2005 02:20 PM

I would like to make a street/track car. The interior is not to bad but I still would like to cage with racing seats. The problem I'm having is the guy is stuck in 1991 thinking his 100k car is worth alot of money sitting in his backyard. He is out of town for a couple of weeks so I will post updates if he sells.

I wouldn't take it for free. JW is right. It will cost a FORTUNE to fix and you will be so far underwater from the start you might as well be on the bottom of the ocean!!!
Buy one that's been kept up.
Guys spend $9000 for paint and get orange peel. Read all about it this past week.

Thanks for the help. The guy is not selling due to he thinks its still worth the full book value. Told him to have a nice day.

I would give him $3 -5 K for it if the body is streight. Shocks are probably done since it has not been driven for so long.

In a sense, it's a shell, but a really good shell to have for a race/track car

That car would require spending twice as much to fix it up as you would spend if you bought one in good shape.
All it is good for is parting out. That's why it's been sitting in the guy's back yard for so long.
