My passenger seat slider is mounted to the floor rail, via a 0.5 inch high extension sandwiched between the slider and the floor rail. Why is this passenger seat ELEVATED by 0.5", compared to the driver seat whose slider is directly mounted to the floor rail?
Is it because the driver seat is electric (motors), and passenger seat is manual? thanks

My pass seat also had a little riser, but not the driver side. Never knew why.

I too have that and I assumed it was because a PO had a short girlfriend

My 87 Targa had the riser on the passenger seat as well, and the driver seat was power.
As I recall the power seat is a little taller so the passenger seat gets raised a bit so they look level next to each other. I have Recaro Sport Line seats now and use a similar riser made by Speedware so the seat bottoms don’t scrape the mounting plate also made by Speedware. I was going to order an extra set of the factory risers but opted for them to fab two matching sets…I’m funny that way, also I didn’t feel like waiting for delivery from Germany for the matching factory part. My only real compliant is that the rake of the seat is not adjustable like with Recaro Pole Position seats. So to make a long story short…too late. --bill

Could it be for the stereo amplifier? I've seen a number of pics showing "optional" larger stereo amplifiers under the passenger's seat... maybe they wouldn't fit without the risers?

Bill, I think you have nailed it.
Stock, my car had power driver's seat, but manual passenger seat. Your theory makes sense now. I have since upgraded to both sides power, so I can still chuck the spacers..... -Chris

I had to remove a rather large car phone box from underneath the ps seat on my uncles 85. If this was an option from the factory/dealer, perhaps this is why?
