'89 930 - best way to route a wire to the trunk?

I'm going to connect an always-on cigarette lighter receptacle to my Optima so I can keep it charged with my Porsche Battery Maintainer by connecting to it from inside the car-- easier than popping the hood. The existing lighter in the dash is switched, unlike the always-on one I had in my ex-993.

Getting a wire to the trunk from the passenger side would be best.

Or, can I simply switch the fuse terminal to which the lighter connects to a different terminal that is always on, like the clock or interior lights fuse terminal?

Thanks

Connect it directly to the battery and put some fuse just in case. To pass a cable from the passenger floor compartmento to the trunk, just drill, put a rubber insolator gromet in the metal, and pass the cable.

There is a kit you can get to charge the Optima, I will look at it when i get home and post tomorrow. I would not recommend going through the lighter as a source when there is a much easier alternative.

Nitro -- thanks. good idea but on my car I can't modify metal, like drilling holes (self-imposed adherance to stock except certain bolt-ons).

Schnele - thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing what you described

Remove the cardboard cover from the truck and you have instant access to the back of the dash. There are plenty of holes already there to run wiring.

JASTX the charger is made by CTEK it is a special conditioner for the battery and has a custom fabricated bracket with a battery cut off switch that came from CTEK pretty simple install.
