Mamma mia.... Bellissima!
Fantastic! I have been following your project... You must be very proud! |
tom, that car is really a model for how it's done right.
How is that door bar tied in to the rear roll bar and/or chassis? |
wow...just over 2100lbs and 245rwhp...I'm so jealous!
car looks really awesome...2 years is well worth it! |
One of my favorites.
|
Consider writing a book with pics from early dreams, the rotten frat boys, to the build, and completion... There must be many good stories. The car is definitely in the top 10 RSR projects (maybe even 5)!
|
Here's another chapter on the book about dreaming the RSR.
My son Matt, who is now 21 wrote this little note for a school project back in the 2nd or 3rd grade. He didn't quite get the model and year right but the color is almost spot on. He always has been a good listener. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1131074285.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1131074306.jpg |

Sounds like he was raised properly!
|
You must be the Tom in CT that I sold some 6"x16" Fuchs to. They look a little different now...

I had the pleasure of meeting Tom this morning and seeing and riding in his RSR. Tom's car is outstanding. The fit, finish, and detail are 1st class. This is one of, if not, the nicest 911's I have ever seen in person. It sounds really good too.
Tom's car is very inspiring, makes me want to rip my 911 aprt today and start my project :) Thanks again Tom Edhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1131317926.jpg |

My Excellence has not arrived yet. I'm chomping at the bit to see it!
|
Its a great article - great car!
How are the tires holding up? Do they turn into rocks after a few months of heat cycling or are you getting a few years out of them? |
Very Nice Man!:D
Great job. ;) Great artical in Excellence? The C4RSR will be in soon.:) |
I just joined the BBS but I've read everything out there on Tom and this car and I'm just blown away. Not only is the car perfect in every way but the story behind it and the father/son bond is really touching. My son is 4 and he's a bigger car nut than my father and I combined and we're certifiable. We talk cars every free moment of course his favorites are Porsche and Ferrari. Someday I hope to work on a project like this with him and also go to the track and share those experiences as well.

Just cruising the threads as I am new to it. Beautiful car. You've had some nice comments about how you conduct your business too. Glad I found those, now I don't feel like I'm getting my cherry busted. Let's hope we have a long and mutually rewarding relationship.

geez, we built our cars near the same time and I've had 3 other 911s since then and my green car is in Australia somewhere.. !!

I can't believe it is almost 10 years ago that I bought this car and started the restoration.
I have been doing 3-4 track events each year. The car is exceptionally well dialed in and a blast to drive on the track. However, I drive on the street every opportunity I have. Nice long mid-week drives through the CT countryside, with little to no traffic and open pipes, are almost as much fun as the track. I have probably put 15-20,000 miles on it since the restoration. The entire car has been trouble free. The engine continues to pull strongly. The only maintenance has been annual oil & filter changes, valve adjustments and brake fluid flushing. The PMO's are flawless. I typically get two seasons out of the Hoosiers. I have another project in process. I am doing a concours restoration on a numbers matching '70E that I bough at an estate auction. I plan to start a separate thread on that soon. Here are some pics to enjoy http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1416141913.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1416141977.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1416142056.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1416142188.jpg |
I have the good fortune to be local to Tom and this car just exudes total quality, a testament to Tom and the crew at Auto Associates. Am looking forward to seeing his next, stock project. John
