Snow Tire Recommendations?
I'm inclined to go with the Blizzaks since I've had several sets in the past and liked them, but has anyone had experience with any of the below? This is what Tire Rack gives me for winter tires for my 89 911. All sizes are 205/55 front and 225/50 rear:

I went from dedicated Pirelli snow tires on my wifes 325i to Falken Ziex 512 all season tires and they worked well last winter (my wife barely whined at all last winter) and should last thru this winter also. Plus they stay on all year. I also put them on 924 that my teen daughter drives. As she was a new driver last winter, itook her out to an empty parking lot covered in snow for some practice and I was shocked at how well these tires gripped. They are wearing well also and they are cheap and look good.

Not a bad thought, but I already have a set of Al Reed newly-finished "easy care" Fuchs for my winter wheels, so my intention is to swith back and forth between those winter wheels (6 and 7 widths) and my summer 7 and 8 Fuchs, currently shod with SO3s.

There are two distinct types of winter tires, regular winter tires, and sport winter tires. the WS-50 blizzaks grip very well on ice and snow, but are not very responsive/grippy in the dry.
I've had the winter sport M2 (similar M3 available now) and they give up very little in the snow/ice to the WS-50, while performing surprisingly well in the dry, like an ultra high performance summer tire. I recommend you go with the winter sport M3 or something similar like the blizzak lm-22 or lm-25.

Rodeo I have an '86 and swap back and forth like you are proposing. I have the Blizzaks in the sizes you are looking at and they handle well in both snow and dry weather.

I use Dunlop Winter Sport M3's on my Saab and love them. Even though the car came with all season tires I really like the added performance of a dedicated winter tire. The M3's give up a little on turn in but are not mushy feeling on dry roads. The thing I appreciate most is braking on snow and ice. Big difference!
I also have them mounted on dedicated rims so that makes the change over easy.

Went with Hankook Icebears last winter on the subie, loved them. They are a good alternative to some of the pricerier high performance snows in my opinion.

I have the Dunlop Graspecs on the Jettas. The work great in the snow but are kinda squirlly on the dry roads.

Thanks for all the responses! I went with the Dunlop Winter Sport M3s. They cost $503.66 shipped from Tire Rack, but Dunlop has a $50 rebate right now. Even in the winter, 90% or more of my driving is on dry roads, so I'll give up a bit of snow traction for dry road handling.
