How do you replace cracked mirror on 911

My 89 911 has a small chip on the side mirror which I would like to replace . I ordered a used one and can someone tell me how to take the old one off and replace . The new one has the mirror attached to the bracket and I don't know how much force to use to pop the old one without damaging the mirror motor or anything else .

Thanks

There is a ring that you must turn from the bottom of the mirror to release the mirror from the mount.

How do you find the mirror ring ?
Which way do you turn ?
What tool would you use ?

Thanks so much

look at the bottom of the mirror housing, there should be a small hole in the bottom middle. I adjusted my mirror to point up and in so I could see behind it a little better. There's a ring that needs to be turned about 1/8th turn to disengage the mirror.

I used a small regular screwdriver, actually, I think I used one of the screwdrivers from the tool kit in the car.

Which direction, can't remember for sure.

I can tell you that it was a bit of a pain in the butt. I think it took me 15-20 minutes to get the old one out, but the new one went in in about 1-2 min.
