VIN decal in driver's door
I am in the process of repainting my midyear. I was curious if a reproduction vin decal for the inside of the driver's door is available. This is the one with the vin number punched through the decal. I really would like to replace this decal and not just paint around it (look awful) or remove it entirely (I like it there).

Eli, I am doing the same thing. I went to an Audi/Porsche body shop(Pfaff). They were very helpful. What I have to do is take the car to their parts dept. with proof of ownership and they will process the request. They also advised to either take a photo of old VIN or try to show them the old one.

wow...i think the nearest porsche dealer is Atlanta and thats like two and a half hours... I think I will try to save the old one as best as I can when removing it and put it in an envelope or something then after everything is done trek up there.

The new ones are grey....just got one for my 1970 last week. Took seven freaking months.

a lot different than the original, different than the black replacements they were sending out recently as replacements.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the stamped plate by the wheel well in the trunk, as well as the option sheet under the trunk lid?
