Please explain partial leather seats to me.
I've got a pair of Carrera seats on eBay and was just asked if they're leather or vinyl. I thought they were called "partial leather", though I have no idea which parts are leather and which are vinyl. What were they in Carreras? I don't think I've ever seen any stock Carrera seats that looked any different than the ones I have.

Usually a partial leather seat is the same as a "leather seating surface" seat. This means that the top and bottom face of the seat is leather. The rest is vinyl.
|
My '88 had partial leather which, I believe, was common for the 3.2L cars.
Partial leather is where the seat insets are leather, but the bolsters and sides are vinyl. |
the pink area is the leather portion of a "partial leather."

Thanks guys. I think that covers it.

Steve, are you sure? I thought I had partial leather seats but it is obvious that the side bolsters are leather from the dye slightly rubbing off.
|
I agree with Rick. Mine are leather around the pink areas above. Only the sides and back are vinyl.

I agree with Chris and Rick.

Ok, if the eBay'er who asked me is watching this thread, I wanted to send you the link, but eBay would only let me respond to your question once and I don't know how else to contact you.

I could definitely be wrong. Maybe the difference that got me thinking that it was the way I said is because the insets are perforated, but the surround is not.

I have read somewhere that the partial leather is the leather that touches your body, so the back of the seat and the sides of the cushion are vinyl and the reat is leather.
