Fan housing question
Hi all
I took my fan/alternator housing out last night due to a problem its wanting to move forward thus grinding into the lower pulley, the fan strap has been tightened so much its almost pulled the captive nut off, I see a hollow pin sticking out off the block but I`m wondering should there be something else in there to lock the fan housing into position? if the answer is no any ideas why this is happening. Thanks............ 1976 Carrera 3

That pin is all there is to keep the housing from shifting.

Sure it's not the alternator moving around in it's bushings?

yeah quite sure its not the alternator causing the problem had a new one fitted 1 year ago and the fan housing was wanting to creep foward before that was replaced. slightlyf of the subject is the 11 blade fan noisier than the 5 blade i have?
