Bruce Canepa race car collection - a few pics - Wow!

I visited Bruce Canepa's "shop" in Santa Cruz yesterday with a bunch of other folks from the local PCA region. In addition to checking out around 10 or so 959's in various states of refit, attached are a few shots of cars in his collection - wow!! Bruce is a great guy - very approachable and loaded with info. The story of how he was instrumental in getting the 959s US legal was very interesting and worthy of a chapter in some book on the 959 saga. He will be shortly setting up a race car museum at his new location in Scotts Valley at what used to be a Seagate office building - very nice collection so far! Many more pics but these are all I have time to send now.

Mercedes CLK DTM - what a car! Ony a handful in the US

Prototype of the Ferrari 275 GTO. Estimated value $15mill.

Original Vasek Polak hauler with very nice 74RS type

Ah yes! Bruce has always had some really nice toys. I used to work for him when he had his shop on Water St. in Santa Cruz. I may have to make a trek over the hill and check out the new digs.

Tom, could you PM me with his address. I have a item from 72 that he might like for his collection. Just a small thing, but it does have to do with one of his cars.

OMG - some of the shots he has of the 959 -- have just stopped me from watching Game 2 of the Series - and I'm a lifelong CWS fan!!!

So Bruce has a new shop eh? Excellent. The old showroom was much too small. That 917-30 he's got is pretty sick. 1100hp @1500lbs

Would love to see some more photos of the Momo935, thats a beautiful car.

Hey Tom, were you able to buy that crazy 2.7RS 914 on eBay the other day?

Hey Matt!

No, I checked it out and met the owner - very nice car but I decided I have to sell my '76 Teener first. Not 100% sure I'll be going to a Porsche engine in my next Teener - that Subie WRX converison I saw at GAF has me thinking......

More pics of Joest 935

Okay Matt - attached are more pics of the Joest/Momo 935. As I recall, Bruce said it won more than a few big races. I believe Bruce was working on this one for another owner.

That's incredible.

Does he own those cars or are they for sale?

Actually, some of his cars are not for sale. From a reputable source, I understand he intends to keep cars that he has raced and have sentimental value such as the GP White 935 and the #97 Sprint car pictured in my first post. I also understand he intends to hang on to the So Cal Salt Lake racer as it has significant historical value as a world speed record setter. I also understand he intends to hang on to the 917/10 snce he has driven it and it has ultimate "cool" factor for sure; other than those, "everything has its price". I would not be too surprised if some of the cars in his showroom are cars he is selling on commission and may in fact not be his, but that's just a guess on my part.
