Targa Top Rebuild - What Kind Of Glue?
I am rebuilding the top on my 84 Targa. What kind of glue should I use to attach the burlap, foam, cover, and headliner?
Many threads have covered the general targa top rebuild subject. But no one seems to mention what glue they used. Thanks. --Carl |
Is this the same type of glue that would be used on a coupe headliner ?

call a upholstery shop and find out what they use. there are about 4 different glues used in the business and some stick way better than others. the usual weldwood brand contact cement works pretty well, but there are better ones.

I like 3m Fastack, not the stuff in the spray can, but the stuff in the tube. Used to be a shelf item at FLAP's, but rarer now. NAPA carries/can order it.

get some wurth hi temp spray adhesive. it sticks interior parts really well and you don't have to worry about the summer heat releasing all your hard work.

While visiting Cars, Inc one afternoon I asked Dan what kind of glue he was using on his targa top restores. I recall him saying a contact cement ala Home Depot. Dan, if you see this please correct me if I'm wrong.
