70 911t 2.4 oil temp discrepancy

Just getting my project back on the road. Got a little nervous watching temp rise to just over 120c on gauge. But I was skeptical so laser thermometer shows 80c at sensor, valve covers and sump.

Can some one reassure me I’m ok and it’s just a sensor/wire/gauge issue?

Make sure your sender is matched with your gauge, gold or silver, early and late 150* vs 200*
