Door Handle Trigger/Lever Replacement
A while ago my door handle trigger broke and I didnt want to spend 300 on a new one. Then I read a post on here about www.emachineshop.com and it got me thinking. Well a couple months later the new door triggers are in and they look really good. There are a few design changes primarily because of the limitations of their solid modeling software but I also added some material above the pivot pin and made them out of aluminum instead of whatever they were made out of before. Hopefully these will be stronger than the original.
Emachine shop worked out really well. Their software was pretty simple once I got the hang of it and it would quote the price right there so I could test materials and design changes to see if they lowered the price any. Once you finish the part you just click send and its done. They also offer many finishing options so I was able to get them all powdercoated black for a negligible increase in cost. If there were any questions about the drawing they emailed me for clarification. I would definitely recommend them for machining multiple items, however they are kind of expensive if you only get one, but the price drops real quick the more you order. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1130445049.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1130445074.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1130445097.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1130445110.jpg |
OK - so you do the design, right? If so, that means you need to know CAD -- I realize a lot of folks on this bbs do, but many folks viewing this thread may not know it...
Also, how much were these? |
might be a worthwhile thing to do if someone is quick and handy with CAD and can think of parts that are easy to produce and need replacement alot.

You do have to do the design but the cad software isnt too hard to figure out. They have a couple lessons that teach you what all the features do. Im sure anyone who sat down with it could pick it up without too much difficulty.
Since I ordered a bunch of them they were 20 each. I am hoping to sell a few and recoup some of the cost. |
