Windshield Washer Reservoir

I have a '85 Carrera and eveytime I fill the Windshield Washer Reservoir it leaks at the very front of the car in the middle. Where is the reservoir located? I looked around the fuse panel and I don't see it anywhere. Is located in front of the spare tire somewhere?
The headlight washers work fine. Does all the fluids come from the same reservoir?

Thanks!!!

I had the same problem with my '85. There is a washer pump next to the battery tward the front. It has two hoses that like to get unclamped from the pump and leak the fluid out. Check the hose conections at the pump. I'll bet that's where the leak is.

The reservoir is up under the driver's side front fender. Big giant mother. You can't miss it. Like Ted said it is either the pump or one of the hose lines.

I'll check it out tonight when I get home.
It was funny cause I was filling it and filling it and filling it and I said DAMN this thing holds a lot of fluid. I was actually going to fill it up. After about 3 gallons of fluid I noticed it running down the driveway. But it is dripping from the front for sure. Hopefully, one of those hoses are just loose.

Thanks guys!

Another thing to consider is the line from the filler neck to the resevoir. It runs through the wheel-well, and it's possible it has developed a leak. The resevoir is in the front left fender. There are two "bottles" there. The smaller/upper one is for fuel vapor recovery. The larger/bottom one is your wiper resevoir. The best way to see what's going on is to pull the front left wheel. Then, while you're looking under there with a droplight, have someone else pour water into the washer filler. You should be able to see where it's leaking. If it's the hose between the filler and the resevoir, it's not too difficult to replace, but the area is usually covered in road grime. Your local auto parts store likely will sell hose by the foot that can be used as a replacement, if necessary.

Good post. I wish I had a leak. I hate the cheap blue crap that is in there, but can't think of any easy way to get it out...not crazy about running the pump for 1/2 hour. The rain x version with debugger, or ice melter is better IMO.

If you want to drain it goto your local auto store, Meijers, Wallmart, whatever and pick up a siphon pump. It looks like a miniature bicycle pump with a hose on both ends. Put the one end down the tube and put the other end in a container. Pump it out. I should be easy to do. I can post a pic later of what I'm talking about if you need me to.

Another way to do it is loosen one of these hoses these guys are talking about and let it run down the driveway. Just kidding , try the siphon.

Good Luck!

I found the problem. See the Pic. But before you read and run I have MORE questions. Sorry. Anyways, after I hooked up this hose it doesn't leak any more.... That is awesome!!!
But ONLY my drivers side windshield sprayer and my passenger side headlight sprayer work now. The driverside headlight washer squirts a tiny bit but the passenger side windshield sprayer doesn't do anything at all. Ok, was that confusing?
I've taken a pin and unplugged the sprayers with wax but it didn't make any difference. Any ideas?

Bill;

You probably have an obstruction either at the nozzle or a check valve. You have to work your way downstream from the pumps till you find it.

There should be a check valve for the windshield washers right under the drivers side nozzle. Valves for the headlight squirters are plugged into the ends of the nozzles. None of this crap is going to be easy to get to, especially the headlight stuff.

Good luck,
JR
