nippondenso rebuild post

I remember a post long ago by Rod Walter the pca lincoln trail region on nippondenso a/c compressors. I have a spare for my 87 carrera and want to try to freshen it up over the winter. does any one have the part #'s for a service/ rebuild. I have a source for denso/ nippondeso parts at dealer cost and would share my IN.

thanks keith epperly

Keith - I think that same article is in the tech info center here. Don't know the part numbers but there is a shaft seal kit, and an o-ring/valve reed kit. I got mine from ackits by giving the compressor model number. Ken

Just to divert a bit . . .

Mine's leaking at the shaft & I plan to rebuild this winter. Is it safe to assume there is no refrigerent left? Can I just unbolt & walk away or does that kill baby seals or something?

To double check just take a small screw drive and depress the schrader valve like you were letting to much air out of a tire. If its got freon left you will know. Then if it does maybe someone will evacuate it for you and save the freon for when its time to refill.

Thanks Keith

The pressure valve that's circled? Or the suction valve?

Answered my own question. Yes it still has refrigerent.

For seals, I found this:

Polar Bear Inc

and this:

acsource.com

Which seals did you order? Since I'm going to be doing the same . . .

These?

I bought the rebuild kit this summer. The rebuild was fairly simple. I also decided to replace all the o-rings in the system with the green nitrile(?). This was to be certain that my system was leak free. Replacing these orings was worth it as many of them looked bad. Might consider that as my o-rings were 20 years old.
