Brake upgrade! 1978 SC with dp motorsport engine
Hi
I will need new brakes for my SC. It's gonna end up with a whigt around 1000 KG witch is about 2000 pounds:confused: I have a dp motorsport engine - puting out about 430 BHP. What would be the right upgrade ...... remember im on a budget here so ceramic isn't what im looking for:D Would 930 after 78' do the job? S4 brakes? 993tt ? Where can i do a good deal on theese items? Thanx:) |
try a search. there are probably a thread about this if you you look hard enough.
try here too http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/246332-993-caliper-mods-grinding-drilling.html good luck |
You don't necessarily need new brakes. You may just need to optimize your existing brakes. When I put the modded 930 engine in my SC everyone told me I needed big brakes. What I found out is that sense I almost never track the car the brakes are just fine (for the street).
Put on some realy good pads and give it a try before you spend the big bux. |
I installed 79 930 floating rotor brakes in my SC. My car weighs around 2900 lbs. I love the brakes. They work perfectly and they look good also.
I think if you installed a set of those they would be fine for your car. I don't know where to get a deal, they are kinda expensive. Dean |

Next step up is either Brembo Big Reds or GTP I just noticed that Stoptech appears to have a 911 kit as well, but I have no info on it |
