Hudson Valley NY Impromptu drive

I've been out of commission for a few weeks and in dire need of a nice run in the mountains with the p-car.

I'll likely be heading for the twisties of Monhonk/ Lake Minnewaska (Rt 44/55) near New Paltz this Sunday morning (10/30). Anyone care to tag along? Open to other routes as well.

... Oliver

(PS - I don't mean to take away from the 11/6 run Adam is planning. I just need to get out this weekend and it would be more fun with some p-car friendly company.)

Great. From where in NNJ are you coming? If you take the Palisades, we could do a quick run over the Bear Mt bridge and up Rt 6. Then turn around and do it again before tooling around Seven Lakes drives and a few of the offshoot roads in that neighborhood. I'm sure we could work it so that you ended up back at the Palisades for an easly route home.

I was planning on heading out around 9 am (after church) and could meet you on either end of the bridge.

Let me know... Oliver

I know I could PM you, but maybe we can get another car or so...I'm a few miles from the palisades, around exit 2, also exit 5...so easy for me to meet you anywhere around the northern reaches of the palisades, there's a rest stop/visitors center between exits 16 and 17...that works for me, or anything else.

should be cool, our cars are almost twins....mine's an ossi blau 1969 911S.

The visitors center is perfect.

We can start there and head over the bridge up Rt 6. Hopefully we'll have little traffic and get a good run in. We can turn around in the circle at the bottom of Rt 6 and go through it again which doubles our chances. Then cross the bridge to the next circle and go through 7 lakes drive. There's an offshoot there which I explored once that brings you right back to the Palisades.

Let's meet at the vistitors center at 10:00. I have 'til about noon before I need to head back which gives us plenty of time.

It looks like it will be a perfect day for a qucik fall run.

If anyone else wants to join us, we'll wait at the center for a bit before heading out.

well, we (the 2 of us) had a great drive, some fabulous roads with great fall foliage....hopefully next week's run will be as much fun.

Sonnet:

That was a great drive. Too bad about all the Sunday Traffic and the 9D road closure. Rt 6 is a great drive when there's little traffic. I should have slowed more to give us longer runs but I felt bad for all those folks behind us. That last road before the Palisades is a great one as well.

The picture of your car in my mirrors with leaves blowing all around it is what I call perfect ;-)

Next weekends fun run should be similar and longer,

See you then...

figures I read this too late. I've been itching to get out. I went for cruise instead this morning up through Kent, CT & back. Hopefully next weeks weather is the same. -John
