mfi air cleaner
I was wondering if anybody out knows of an aftermarket air cleaner to replace the original Porsche cleaner on an mfi system. I am hoping for something that will resemble a Webber system, but will allow me to use the stock base/velocity stacks. Thanks.

There are such things, but they need a little tweaking to fit around a couple of components. I don't believe anyone has made a complete ready-made set with all the necessary mods.
What year? Cold start circuits in the air cleaner plenum of the '70-71 scares most away. I've seen it re-plumbed to the top of K&N's and didn't like the look much. I've seen it eliminated altogether as well. Most of the time the car will start fine w/o it and it's better for the car to not have a bunch of raw gas running down into the cyls and past the rings into the oil. Nevertheless, sometimes you need it. '72-73 had the circuit installed in the stacks themselves. Run any kind of filter you want. BTW, someone took the time to dyno a motor in 3 configurations: Stock fliter, K&N's and open. The charts showed little improvement in certain areas, but all added up across the board, the stock system was as good as anything else. It gets pretty complicated explaining all the nuances. I'm glad you asked this question as I was going to get around to posting it, someday. Thanks, Milt, I was wondering if anyone ever put any dyno time to this. I ran my '72 T MFI car a few miles down the road one afternoon. Gotta love all the extra sound from the un-muffled induction. Maybe got a little better throttle response but not much gain otherwise. An open element air filter like the K&N or the above photo'd ITG will definately give you the extra sound, if that's something you'd like.

My main reason for wanting to go to a different air cleaner is get better access to my injection pump manual thermostat adjuster vs performance gains. I wonder if the motor they dynoed was stock vs modified (mine's an RS 2.7 copy). I agree its unlikely a stock motor would need more air flow than that provided by the stock air cleaner. The only thing attached to my air cleaner are oil breather lines. I wonder how they set up the ITG filters? I've had good experience with them on some race cars.

Tom (orange car above) made some custom adapter plates...not sure exactly how he did it. You'll also note the flexible RSR injector lines. They allowed added clearance.
