sunroof - need help!!

and i thought i was doing so well... i am using Wayne's tech article, the sunroof panel is out of the car and i have identified that the passenger side cable has detached itself from the guide. next step is to remove the aluminum channel, clean everything up, apply JB Weld, wait and drive. however, i can't figure out how to remove the channels. there are no exposed screws that i can see. there is what appears to be a pop rivet on the leading edge of the channel, underneath the plate that holds the arm of the wind deflector in place. i know i am missing something - someone please tell me what it is.

Todd

also - the channels in my car are black, not bare aluminum as depicted in the tech article. not sure if that makes a difference.

Right - the aluminum (silver coloured) channels are removable, they were installed in the SC and earlier models. Carreras use the black channels which are not removable.

Y'all have the remove the part across the front, and slide your bits and pieces out that way. It works - I've done it. Be carefull not to break your fragile wind deflector.

There's a tech artcile here somewhere which goes over the procedure for the Carrera models. Oh yeah - it took a while for us to figure out that you have to remove the T-shaped plates which attach the sliders to the roof. In other words, the roof has to be taken completely out of the car and then you can remove the cables.

Good luck - it's really an easy job once you've done it once or twice.

by "not removable" you mean you have to drill out the rivits.

I up-graded to Carrera air deflector etc and was curious.. thx
