Bodywork question-Painting Fiberglass
Any comments on the correct way to paint fiberglass body panels where they can withstand the test of time without spider-webbing , cracking etc.?
Is one type of paint better suited to fiberglass parts than others? Any special procedures or curing times that should be followed to do this work correctly as to not "cut corners" Thanks ![]()

Paint just like normal panels. Just don't use etch primer on the bare panel like you would steel. Probably best to use a good tie-coat primer or primer/sealer on the bare fiberglass. then some high-build and block to suit. Next some epoxy followed by your favorite top coat. some will use a little flex agent in the topcoat.
Spiderwebs and cracking usually appear from back side impacts. you can coat the backside with undercoating or truck bedliner material to combat this. Works great for fenders. Not needed on bumpers, doors or hood/decklid.
