Muffler Modification...

I'm trying to backdate the header system. Is there any way to modify the single-in muffler to a dual-in.

Obviously the mufflers look similar from the outside but is the inner construction different?

For that matter, with a aftermarket muffler is it a case of adding another pipe to make it work for dual-in or is the internal plumbing of the muffler different altogether?

Thanks.

Single out muffs can be converted by cutting them open and cutting open baffles then welding on a new exit. I'm sure a single inlet can be done as well. But the original inlet will have to be moved....how much money do ya wanna spend???

Yes, I understand the inlet has to be moved. No worries about it. I'm just curious if the inner construction is the same for both mufflers.

How about those B&B or other branded exhaust mufflers? Can they be converted from single-in to dual-in by welding new inlets?

Any input, guys?

Thanks!

Sprint.

Sure...but why?

Dual out mods are/were done becuase it was cheaper than buying a new one. Unless you have welding experience, a welder and a bunch of muffs laying about, it's cheaper just to buy a dual in/out muff.......
