Gotta be a scam, right?

Was browsing Autotrader today, and found a Cayenne Turbo with 61,000 miles for sale for $15,000. I sent the guy an e-mail, and he claims the offer is real and that he needs the money quickly.

I'm thinking this has to be a scam, but is there some way I could make sure it's not?

Anyway, here's the car

I'll bet he needs the money fast? Too good to be true?

I didn't know the real estate bubble in Shawnee, Kansas had already popped...

Plus takeover payments? Takeover lease? Does he have the title in hand? Is it in his name? Will he go with you to the DMV before you exchange cash? Does the VIN match the title?
Yea, it smells. How close is Omaha to Shawnee Mission, Kansas?
Maybe it's his wifes car and something (divorce) is going on.
Drives you crazy, huh.

Maybe a Porsche dealer could run a VMI and see who the current owner is? I don't see a VIN number there. Start by asking him for that and his name.
The dealer would know at the very least who the last person was that took it in for service

The phone number is 707, which is Northern California, another oddity.

The phone number with the ad is in California, so it smells even worse...

Edit: Oops, typed too slow.

Here's the response I got after asking him if the price was a typo:

I am glad to hear that you are interested about my car. The car is in perfect conditions without any scratches, damages or other mechanical problems. I live in NY and about the shipping taxes you don't have to worry because i will pay for it. You will receive the TITLE, keys and owner's manual. I took care of it like it was my own baby and now is in the same condition as it was when I bought it - even better!
thank you,
Richie

PS:I have to solve some important personal problems and for that I need money fast, so decided to sell my precious car. That's the real reason for the low asking price

How many times do we have to see this scam ?

Go look at the eBay Harley Davidson's for sale section. At any time there are at least a dozen bikes priced ten thousand below market price. Same old and tired scam.

Do a search here on PP about "eBay scams" and look at all the threads.

My girlfriend has a 707 prefix, she lives in Napa CA.

These guys could be dangerous though, we better send my girlfriend there first.

Here's a VIN from one of the multiple ads. It could be the same Cayenne. It says its a 2005 for 5k.
