Is this the right catalytic converter for my car (picture attached)?

Folks,

I bought a Catalytic Converter from a fellow Pelican for my 83 SC (my car currently has a test pipe..and it stinks pretty bad).

I took it to the muffler shop this past weekend to have it installed but the technician there said that the O2 sensor in my test pipe was a 7/8" 02 sensor and it was too large to screw into the small hole in my CC. The CC currently has a plug in that small hole (which you can see in the picture). My thinking was that the tech would remove that plug (on ridiculously tight by the way), install the CC and then screw in the O2 sensor. But things didn't quite pan out that way of course.

Do I have the wrong CC? Or do I have the incorrect O2 sensor in my car? When I look at the PET, it shows a cylindrically-shaped CC for an 83 SC. I thought the CC I bought is OE but now I'm not sure.

In any event, I haven't made any progress so I thought I would ask for your comments.

Thanks,
Hans (Atlanta, GA)

Garage
Have him weld it up and put a new bung in it that fits your 02 sensor or buy a new 02 sensor that fits....
