No. It's an additional piece that was popular as an aftermarket mod in the 1970s. I just think the license plate panel on the early cars looks a little 'unfinished.' This piece continues the line of the rear end in a way I like.

Also is your ducktail stock or is it longer at the back???
It's stock.

I think my car will have very similar aero mods to yours. I know you use the car on track so it must work!
It works. But for most tracks, I use a much bigger rear wing.

Did you find that the Duck tail is better than the 964 retractable wing/spoiler you were using? Not sure if it was this car or another that you may have had.
It's comparable to the 964 wing, I think. But the 964 wing is very heavy.

Where's it from? I checked TRE's website, and couldn't find it listed there. It looks really good - depending on price, I might consider that myself. I agree that the license plate area on pre-centre-reflector cars isn't the prettiest area of the car.

I've seen a few pics of this combo before, and considered it when I bought my duck, but decided against it - I think the letters look great on a stock decklid, but it's a bit too busy with the ducktail.

Thank you, Mark. At least someone shares the same views.

You need an OEM lid to replaced the ducktail from the PO? I may have one if you're interested.

How about those 964 tail pics?!?

Good Morning Wayne and John

These pictures were taken at the Coronado Speed Festival in Oct, and yup, it's the same car as the lightweght 911S written up in the May '01 Excellence and referenced at RennLight.com, the Church of Speed and Light(Weight)

That funny looking wing behind the car is the roof on someone's golf cart--Hope that doesn't start Jack Olsen on another aerodynamic adventure!

John, I was invited not to renew my membership to R Gruppe long ago. I did not attend enough monthly meetings with my car, and there were a lot of people who would! It's kinda tough haulin' my car on a trailer into downtown Emeryville once a month, so by mutual agreement, I was excommunicated!

LOL, did they require you to surrender 10% of your salary too??

they used to be a cool "hot rod" club, is it now just lets-shine-and-look-at-them crowd? what happened?

how do the honorary members get out of doing the monthly meetings? the ones that live way waaay out of state? hmmmm....

anyway, that's a great car and nice ducktail mod

Sounds like a car equivalent of a golf country club. Keep the entry requirements up and the riff-raff out.

Definition of lemmings: Any of various small, thickset rodents, especially of the genus Lemmus, inhabiting northern regions and known for periodic mass migrations that sometimes end in drowning.

Umm, no, not lemmings. I am too afraid of drowing to participate.
