What is fair price for this 1986 911 Carrera?

What does everybody think this is worth?

Thanks,

Says "new engine sound pad" - not in the pics however.

What it's worth is what someone is willing to pay. As these cars get older and older, ballpark pricing is just that. Only late model cars have solid "Blue Book" values.

That car can be anywhere from $13,000 - $19,000 (just a guess, btw).

$15 - 16K ?

Negatives: High miles. Few records. Repaint.
Positives: Repaint. Sounds like somebody took care of it.

Having no record of the work done means that you really cannot consider it in the asking price IMHO. With the high mileage of this car I really can't say it is worth more than 12 or 13k. It may be a great car but for 16 or 17 you can get something with half the mileage.

Just my opinion

I paid about 11k for my 86 911 coupe with 125k. Since then i've put about $4k into her and lots of time. If I could do it again I would probably pay more and get a well maintained machine.

All,

I should have included this in the first post initially so I'll add it now:

Seller provided receipts for all the above upgrades and maintenance.
Seller also provided service records for:
1. last four years which added about 8,000 miles
2. first 10 years which is about 94,000 miles

Again, no records of no record of major work (replace or rebuild) of clutch, transmission, or engine. BUT lots of documentation for everything else.

I would have to say that it really depends on you. I just paid 20K Canadian for a similar 85 Coupe with 240,000kms (150,000miles) Mine needs a new A/C compressor and some minor touch ups. These cars are much harder to find here then in the US though, so the price tends to be higher here. I would pay the same again for my car, she is worth every penny. <-- My grin looks alot like that when I am driving her. I do have all the maintenance records for mine. Tranny rebuild etc ... Nice looking car you are considering, how about some interior pics?

$12k - $15k. Look in the classifieds here on Pelican for confirmation, there are a number of high mileage non-G50s for sale.

What Sonic said. . .

and; Looks clean, and has believable milage.

You really have to go by condition here. From what I've experienced MANY 911 owners fuch with the milage.

On the down side, I think that blue interior is the toughest to turn (sell).

I paid $12,900 for my '74. I paid $1000 to a garage to pull it apart and check out the rebuild on the engine. It had 32,000 miles on a rebuilt but had no records. The mechanic adjusted the heads and did a bleed down on the cyls. The rest of the car was immaculate. I have had to put another $5000.00 into it to replace the parts that most people don't think about, like smashed external oil cooler lines that leaked, a few sensors that leaked as well, but nothing major. But it costs money to get some of this done...unless of course you are willing to do alot of it yourself.

It depends upon the results of a PPI and how it drives, but I'd say anywhere from $12k-$16k

I paid $14,500 for mine last february. Body & interior in good, not excellent, shape, 113000 miles & all service records. Several minor repairs since, tie rod ends had torn boots - upgrade to turbo's. Replaced oil cooler lines, steering wheel bushing, hood shocks, power window switches........... But nothing major.
