Chrome trim for a Carrera?

I really want to add some chrome trim to my car after seeing a similar burgundy Cayenne with some chrome. I'm thinking headlight rings, side mirrors, door handle, a "911" script, and maybe a a metal engine grill.

I think it would add a more elegant touch to the car.

What do you guys think?

**hmm, where's my picture?

Sounds like you're starting a backdate project. Personaly, I'd leave your car as is, it looks "right" and very nice I might add. Not to say adding a bit of chrome would look bad but to do it right it would be best to go all the way. MIKEZ might be of some help here, he's backdated his cab.

I agree it looks nice as is but that said it is a personal pleasure thing. If it would make you happy then it is your car so why not ...

I just picked up this '76 two weeks ago... Had a discussion with my friend regarding the chrome lower chrome moulding and wheel arches. Turns out the window sticker lists them as an option. This thing has 81k miles and records going back 30 yrs. No rust, very original. Just need to redo engine. But price was right Lou

And polished fuchs - whatever floats your boat - I like it on a darker car like yours (Ed's too!)

Jeremy,
Would you be willing to trade me your Fuchs?

Jay,

Not starting a backdate...Just something different that I can change out every now and then (sort of like Jack's tails). I intend to keep the original parts.

getting slowly to 400+ miles - (at 500 miles, oil change and valve adjustment) Between buying a new house and getting it ready to move into, meeting with the city/builder/architect/fema coordinator, attempting to pack up the house to be remodeled - it's been rough...

After the oil change and valve adjustment I'll get some initial dyno time too - so Steve W can tweak my chip a little more -

I have to say though - the car acts like a normal carrera until around 4000 rpms then it comes hard and fast!

Hmmm... If your inspiration is coming from a Cayenne, you might want to rethink...

efhughes3 your targa looks very similar to what I would like to eventually end up with with my 84 Carrera Targa. Did you buy another Targa bar or just refinish the one you had? Man your car looks SWEET!!!
