Euro sidemarker and running light wiring?

Both my little sidemarkers blink regardless of which way the turn signal lever is engaged. They don't blink with the hazard lights.

The regular front and rear blinkers work as expected.

Also in my car the front US running lights were installed.
This past summer I installed and later removed the scoop and found the wires from the running light are short. (they are currently run to the headlight bucket where they connect to the main harness which also powers the "city light" in the h4.

I restored the car last year and I admit I reworked the wiring on the H4 because it had the US headlights there. The sidemarker wiring was not touched during this project and I assume it was original.
I don't have a ROW wiring diagram and it's pretty hard to trace the wire back. It goes into the door jamb area from the fender.

Anyone with a ROW know how these are supposed to work and how the wires are supposed to run?
