New project...turbo EFI VW motor in a Speedster replica.

Yeah, no brains, no headaches....

Anyhow, I couldn't give away my Dodge Dakota truck....360 V8 with a Vortech Blower....had about four hundred horse but was stock and boring....plus it got like 10 gallons to the mile......

Some fool....errrr, enthusiast traded me a Speedster replica and some cash for it....problem...it was a roller.

So I found this cool CB Performance 2180 cc VW motor....EFI with twin throttle bodies, Garrett turbo and buncha other goodies. I'm in the process of the conversion plumbing from turbo up top....like the bug Jesse James had in the recent Garage episode....to an under the motor install with oil return via a trick dry sump.....

Anyhow....my question is....how do I return the fuel to the tank that never was set up for FI??????

I'm guessing I have to pull the tank and do a dual fiting on the bottom?

Below are some pics.....I'll get install pics tomorrow....

Use a through firewall -6 AN adaptor that bolts into the fuel tank. Think of the Fuel tank wall as the firewall. You can drill a hole and reach your hand in through the filler cap to install it from the inside. Use rubber seals on each side of the tank. The line would come from the regulator and bolt to this adaptor.

OR can you adapt it to the vent, where it still is the vent, but also the return line?

Nice score Mike. Be sure to talk to Marty Staggs about the turbo details, he is the one that did my header and intake system.

Spend some time at the Forums at www.Cal-Look.com.
Marty Staggs, the guys from CB (Dom and Pat) , the guys from VW Paradise (9.30 1/4 vw street cars and 6 second dragster) all hang out there.

Beautiful set-up especially the throttle bodies...but I would recommend an IC for massive efficiency gains...even an air to water for tight packaging.

Great stuff!

Nice car!

Engine is cool but that T-pipe going from turbo is very suboptimal. There are cheap horses to be gained by removing that tube and fitting little intercooler and nicer Y-splitter.

You could even modify intercooler and run two pipes from each side of intercoolers rear-end.

Dang that is one pretty speedster. Please do post more pics. I have always wanted to do a spyder with a similar engine. Speedsters never did it for me but this thing is sweet! Good luck on the project.
