interesting 3.6 motor (who needs MFI when there is EFI)

A gentleman on local swedish track-forum built himself really nice combo with 82 SC body and 3.6 mill with Electromotive EFI, ITB's, lightly ported heads and bigger intake valves.

I find it quite impressive. No MFI "old bearded geezers grinding spacecams" mumbo-jumbo, no hot cams (he used OEM 3.6 cams).

Now imagine hotter cams and lightweight pistons/rods on that!

What is the circular aluminum disc on the port stack?

Home-made throttle linkage system for ITB's.

Holy high butterfly! Who made those ITBs?

I bet those could be reamed out and tapped for MFI injectors ;)

I believe he bought TWM's.

That's fantastic with std cams - although 9M seem to be getting more hp with their Motec + 1 onversions.

Just wondering out loud, I wonder what a 3.2 with cams and SSIs would make with the addition of ITBs and aftermarket engine management?

so sweet and pretty , i need to go change my pants now...

Curved fan blades?

Typically curved fan blades offer less noise, not more air flow. I wonder what up with this fan.

It's typical N/A 3.6 fan. Flows less than straight-bladed 3.2 fan but is quieter.

Goran, I don't think those are TWMs. maybe you could look into that for us...

Is that wheel HP, or estimated crank? It seems hard to believe that 80hp would be available from those relatively minor modifications, with stock 964 camshafts. What exhaust system was used on the dyno?

Cheers,

Thanks for pointing this out! Very cool project!! Is that a 964 block w/ 993 heads? OR were the valves oversized in 964 heads?

Cheers,

I believe those are metric numbers...need to convert.

PS is the same as HP (the German word for horse starts with a "P")...

Goran,
Next questions: Does Electromotive allow for Alpha-N and a form of mapping which incorporates a (MAP sensor)? I see he has a manifold tying the 6 TBs together to develop a vacuum source for the pressure regulator. Is that source also used for some type of fuel mapping?

Thanks,

Doug

Cheers,

Mods don't seem to be so minor. Check the size of intake valves:

I'll try to invite the owner to this thread. I haven't ask about Alpha-N but I can't see any TPS on pics so I assume he only used MAP.

Bill Verburg 11-04-2005 01:01 PM

What valves did he use? Looks to be the same size as the 51.5/43.5 RS valves I used. The intake anyway doesn't appear to be the same as the RS valves I used

The #S are impressive for 3.6 and stock cams but once again the #S are not really comparable in any meaning ful way to factory #s or #s obtained else where.

If you wish to believe them enjoy;)

From onlineconversion.com

"ps is the symbol for pferdestärke, which is German for horsepower. The symbol ps is used in both the German and Japanese markets.

pferdestarke is the same as metric horsepower, or I should say ps is the symbol for metric horsepower.

1 pferdestarke = 0.9863201 horsepower [international]
164 pferdestarke = 161.7564919 horsepower [international]

As you can see, ps is very close to regular horsepower. If you just need an estimate, you can interchange them. 164 ps = 164 hp"

Therefore, 334.1 PS = 329.4 International HP.

Translated...still impressive.

KobaltBlau 11-10-2005 09:41 PM

I'm still wondering why someone would use stock 964 cams with this setup, though I can't argue with the results (which I think are estimated flywheel)
