Nice! Love the E39 M5s. Re-chipped they are scary fast. Enjoy.

I've looked at M5's for a few years and like them very much. My only question is, what do you do with a sedan that has over 400hp except get tickets? You know you'll be aching to see what that car does all the time and your not on a track. Hopefully you'll still have you license a few months from now.
The idea of have a 400hp rear wheel drive car in snow country has stopped me to this point.

Congratulations. Awesome car. A friend has one and he said they'll have to pry it from his cold dead hands.
Gorgeous discreet beast, not like Bangle's ugly new monstrosities. Should I post a 'new garagemate for my SC' thread when my SC's garagemate comes ? (my garagemate is a 'sinister black' Mini Cooper (not even the S model) ;-) Sinister Mini is an oxymoron

If you ever get over to Louisville during the day I'd like to look the car over, I will be replacing my road car soon and I love the looks of the E39's!

What?

I like it! I've been looking at M5 also. Carbon black/black 2000. Did you get the warranty from the dealer or aftermarket? I've read so much on the M5board about MAF and VANOS problems I'm almost scared to buy one without a warranty.

thanks guys. I have a BMW warranty but will also get additional coverage if need be. I too ready about the vanos and MAF problems but when I talked to the service tech at the local BMW dealer he said that if maintained well problems are few.
for those of you in the area I would be happy to let you check out the car. For the record it does not have 400 RWHP it has 400 Crank HP. I am excited, thanks JC!

Cool car James! I'm "hella-jealous".
It just had to be silver, didn't it? That's O.K., we can respray it signal orange in the future.

What?

The one I'm looking at has been well maintained so hopefully it will be a good one. We had a few southern Indiana guys and even more KY guys up last week for our PCA /DE at Putnam Park. You should come up in the spring. I'll send you the details if you are interested. M5 at the DE?

thanks T. Honestly, I wanted Blue but the right car turned out to be silver. hey, same rule as with Scruffy, she is your car too. Come visit and you can drive all you want.
good news is that Scruffy becomes a light beast. I am going to get a duck, light seats, no radio, etc. shoot for 2200 lbs or less...

sounds good. I think I will take the 911 first. I passed on an M5 with all the D goodies because I have a track car and this is my driver now. But she might end up on a track, who knows...

Cool!
2200 is probably not in the cards though. Just under 2300 is about as light as you'll be able to go with the 3.6 and aluminum Euro 915. You're probably over 2500 pounds right now, so that's still a big weight savings. You'll be amazed how she feels a couple hundred pounds lighter!

well the tail is 34 lb. the seats are 90, the radio 30... so 200 will be easy. plus if I keep these brakes... hmmm this is going to be fun!

Sure, but you have to put something in their place, and those things will weigh something.
I know all about how hard it is to either remove weight, or add ballast. The first 100 pounds is easy. After that, it gets difficult.
