Gas tank or fuel cell??

Well, my gas tank suddenly developed a leak this evening, so it's been drained. My dilemma is whether to replace it with a repro galvanized tank, or just put in a fuel cell. The car is a street car now, and I plan on doing some DE's starting next year when I have the car sorted out and set up properly. Eventually, the car may see wheel to wheel action. Am I better off just doing a fuel cell now or should I stick with a gas tank until it becomes a consistent track car rather than a street car?

Looks like you're on your way to a full track car, went down that slippery slope when you fitted the roll bar in. So why not an ATL fuel cell? Plus I hear the aftermarket gas tanks don't fit that well. Go for it, you know you want one lol. Good luck Allan

I have always wondered, will the fuel gage still work with a fuel cell??

I've seen it done on some Shelby Cobra replicars. Since the fuel sender is just a reostat, I'm sure there are some aftermarket units that can be adapted to the Porsche fuel guage. Just as long as the float travels the full range within the tank. Another way is just to fit the original Porsche sending unit to the fuel cell. With some clever positioning I'm sure you can make it work. Hope that helps Allan
