I think the rarity is the fact that, that '69 has a 5 balde fan, didn't they only come on 2.7's?

yeah, that caught my attention too. Let's see what happens when he's faced with that question...

Heh, response was "it's not my car, here's the owner's #, call him for the history".

Why doesn't my question appear on the page? I clicked the "ask seller a question" link.

And what's with so many people selling a car "for a friend"? Why doesn't the friend list it themselves? That always seemed fishy to me, like a good excuse to dodge questions.

Ebay gives the seller the option for your question and the answer to show in the auction.

"Selling for a friend" is the oldest trick to displace responsibility. Usually done by someone flipping cars without the proper permits etc.

That said I have had a few friends asking me to "help" them sell vehicles on Ebay since they are internet/auction illiterate.

I legitimately sold a 944 "for a friend" a few years ago. It was a single woman freind of my wife and she didn't know jack about her car, the sales process, etc. Plus she did not want wacko men coming to her place. So I sold it for her.

The car was a total rag by the way. 165,000 rough miles, never cared for, sat outside, never waxed, full of dog hair. It was Trashed with a capital T. I thought about turning into a track car but it needed $5000 worth of work to even be a safe street car. Track mods were on top of that. So I dumped it.

The point is "selling it for a freind" can be a legit reason. This guy is obviously whacked though.

17318 T's produced with 1991cc engine 67 to 69

7956 S's produced in same period.

I don't get how this makes the T "rare".

If he gets $25,000 for this well molested 69T, I'm starting the bidding on mine at 30K!!

Jim

(Some noted mods, duck, flares, grills, wheels, lights, fan, mirrors... the list goes on.)

I saw this car sitting on the side of the road a few months ago and stopped to look. The guy is probably selling it for the owner, I doubt the owner is computer literate. The guy was asking 8500.00 for the car and said he had a guy really interested in it at that price. The car sat for several years with the windows down and is very rusty. The guy knows nothing about Porsches - he bought it from someone that just wanted it out of their yard.

See what happens when Excellence prints " Early 911's, "Grab one while you can" on the front cover of the 5/04 issue.
That all it takes for people to get nutty and think every early 911 is worth bucks regardless of condition.

If my car makes it to Ebay I am having a friend list it. The reason is because I have no E-Bay experience and he has quite a bit.

Only 2 bids so far. There is a $24K difference between where the bids are at now and the buy it now price. It has to be a T, it says so on the dash.
