How strong is the Wong?

I did it, placed my order today.

I am officially scheduled to be Wongified.

Man, I can't wait to get that chip in.
I've been dreaming about it for the last two months now

One thing I can say: Steve, thank you for your swift kind and informative reply to my questions.
I'm confident that you have gained another happy customer.

I'll keep you guys posted.

livi 11-05-2005 06:47 AM

Geronimo,

I will do the same. How did you approach Steve ? E-mail ?

Geronimo '74 11-05-2005 07:13 AM

Yes, I did.
You will find that he is very friendly and helpful

Contact him on www.911chips.com

livi 11-05-2005 07:15 AM

Mucho obligado !

Be interesting to swap experiences when installed.

Por_sha911 11-06-2005 03:11 PM

Livi: do a search, there are many many satisfied SW customers on this board (myself included).

livi 11-06-2005 04:12 PM

I did Joe, read old threads for several hours the other night. Came to the conclusion that this is worth trying (despite certain peoples warnings).

Wavey 11-07-2005 03:13 AM

Could you both please post your impressions here after the installation?

a911 11-07-2005 03:21 AM

i love Steve W. chip. Best improvment so far on my ride........

fuelie600 11-07-2005 04:39 AM

Geronimo and Markus,

I ordered a SW chip for my 87. It should be here in the next couple of days. I can't wait to try it out. I'll let you know how it works....

Wavey 11-07-2005 05:01 AM

This is great! Loren rants (on another thread), Steve sells more chips :D

Geronimo '74 11-07-2005 05:27 AM

Comments are sure to come.
I' m definitely going to try to get a before and after dyno test.

I'll be posting my results on this site, (well duh!)

I really am curious because I want to know how many ponies my stock 86 is giving me now.
I think the number from the factory is FWHP no? (should be 231 but I doubt if this is still the case after almost 20 years)

We''ll see...

This thread http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/221772-flunked-ca-smog-test.html

should help to answer the question and provide insights into a number
of problematic issues.

Geronimo '74 11-07-2005 07:49 AM

hehe :D

No smog tests here in Belgium, so I really cannot be bothered about that.

Geronimo '74 11-07-2005 07:50 AM

And even should there be such a test and let's say I would fail it due to the SW chip.
Problem would be solved easily.

Put in OEM chip, pass test, Put SW chip back in.

I really can't see what the problem would be.

Lorenfb 11-07-2005 07:56 AM

"CanNOT be bothered of course" - Geronimo '74 -

Just keep banging your head against the wall!

livi 11-07-2005 07:57 AM

Alright Loren,

In all fairness I will read the mentioned thread before ordering from Steve.

If I still decide to go with the chip I will of course report back !

The thread better be good.. ;)

Geronimo '74 11-07-2005 07:58 AM

You know what Loren
If I ever get into trouble because of Steve's chip, You'll be the first to know.

Just don't expect my call anytime soon.

Geronimo '74 11-07-2005 08:06 AM

And please don't transform this thread into a neverending arguement like you did with Highfield's

I (We) know already what your opinion is, I (we) just choose to ignore it, so leave me (us) be

Amen. It's clear Loren has an agenda. First his opinion was SW chips don't improve performance, then when proven wrong, he switched to engine damage and smog.

IlMostro 11-07-2005 09:31 AM

I put a SW chip (for a euro premuffler) in my car about a year ago after going through every imaginable line, sensor, connection, etc chasing an idle problem. Car idles better than it ever has, accelerates from a stop more smoothly, midrange power is noticably fattened up.

Had to take it in for emissions a couple months ago, didn't pass with the euro premuffler. No surprise there.

Put the cat back on (but left in the SW chip) and it passed just fine. Actually, they barely started the test and the computer ended the test, the car had met "fast pass" criteria. 2 years ago it didn't meet "fast pass". Maybe it was the other work done while chasing the idle problem. Either way, I really don't think that the chip appreciably hurt the results of the emissions test.

Just one data point.

Best Regards,
Daryl
