930 to 3.2 conversion? anyone done it?

I'm putting a 3.2 in my 80 930. My questions is what will I need to do to the transmission/clutch ?? Any reason it shouldnt just bolt on ? I'm using the 930 transmission not a 915

You won't like the 930 gears with a Carrera engine. Not enough power or torque available to make those long legs run. Why are you downgrading the power level of a 930? The M491 Carreras used a 5spd.

I bought a roller, and I"m going to be doing alot of DE's next summer so this is an interm solution.. It's more of a cash flow situation right now, I'll upgrade next winter,, either a turbo or a 3.6

If you're going to all the trouble of installing a Carrera engine why not add a turbo to the Carrera engine later when the funds come back? That would be a lot simpler and more powerful than a 3.6 or stockish 930 engine.

I bolted a 930 engine to a 915 tranny so I see no reason why you can't bolt a Carrera engine to a 930 tranny. Just use the 930 flywheel and clutch. May need a mod for the DME if that engine has a flywheel sensor.

I may do that, I'll have a while to think about it.
Ok so my real question is do I need a 930 flywheel ?? I've got a 930 clutch but was hoping to use the flywheel from the 3.2 will this not work ?
