internal differences, window switches
 

i am trying to set up a 946 deck lid swap on my sc and have hit another snag. i have wired the whole unit with the auto-lock controller deal and a 74-88 window switch is not working. it will put the wing into the up position but not down. it will go down by cutting power to the deck wing by disconnecting the wiring loom ive installed and then reconnecting it. it goes down after the reconnect with the 911 switch in the middle position.

my question is are the internal working of the 964 switch position different than a strait 911 ? are the prongs on the back of the switch in a different layout than the early 911 switch? does the 964 switch call for the up and down of the winow in a different way than the 911?

there is a different part number for the two switches, but i am looking to find out if there is different functions for each switch.

I'm resurrecting a very old thread that went unanswered. Every time I have to pull my 87 911 door cards I absolutely hate fussing around with the multiple spade connections of the power window switches. Anyone else annoyed!! I suspect that the 964 platform addressed this with upgraded modern single plug solution. In fact this month's Panorama features a how to replace your speakers in a 1989 and later 911 and I think I see a different pronged window switch. Can anyone verify. Has anyone attempted to "modernize" their window switch setup?

I’m sure others will come up with better ideas but my thought would be to cut ends off and pin them for a Deutsch connector. Make a simple pigtail that connects to the switch with the other end of the Deutsch connector. That way you can just unplug each of them when you pull the door card off.

I’ve only pulled mine off twice before so just a minor inconvenience for me. How often are you pulling the door card off?

I purchased some connectors like that with the same thing in mind. I was still left with the clunky spade connectors at the switch.
