Red face tire tubes for deep 6s

bought new tires cuz of long story, but having them mounted at a different place then where i bought the tires and they won't mount without tubes. is this true??

if so, where do i get tubes?? the tires are Yokohama avs es100s 195/60/15.

part of the long story is that the original tires were mounted improperly and then were discontinued so i couldn't replace the one they messed up the bead on. but that shop didn't know about they were reverse mount or needed tubes.

thank god i didn't drive at speed with those tires. only around the block a couple times while getting the car to run for the first times.

sorry for the A.D.D. of this post, but i'm just so fed up at this point with this project, one step forward, two steps back!!! AAARRRRGGGGHHH!!!

sorry for venting

You need the TR-415 valve stem (referred to as the "Big Boy"). America's tire has these, T15R is their part number. No tubes needed!

sorry for the double post, but i just talked to the guy and he said the TR-415s wouldn't snap in like they should, he said you could have pushed them right back into the tire and i would have been S.O.L. any more advice???

Thanks

Joe

I used a steel valve stem made by bbs, I found a local bbs shop, and these were a very nice, snug fit...at the time, I couldn't find any tr-415's.

duke, do you know if the tr-415's "snapped" in, my tire shop says he can't get them to snap in, and the only thing holding them in in the tire pressure.

duke, do you have a part number or a way to find a local BBS shop or a place i can order these stems so i can get them to the tire shop.

thanks,

Joe

Don't have a BBS shop here, but I will check with the local America's Tire place tomorrow & confirm the mounting of these. The install was a breeze with no leaks on mine. Their part # is T15R. I still have my old tubes stored in the garage. I was told this particular valve stem (fat boy or big boy as it is called) is from a 60's era VW for 5 bolt wheels. The local America's Tire phone # is 530-221-0667.

Here is the info I received from America's Tire this morning: In Minn. it is known as "Discount Tire" and there is one in Plymouth, Minn. May be others as well. The valve stem is mounted from the inside of the rim using a "valve stem puller." I have Yokohama AVS 195/65/15 mounted for two years with absolutely no problems and I drive in a very spirited manner. Hope this helps!

gotcha, between my brother and i, we haven't had much luck with the local discount tire, i'm still talkin to this tire shop if he'll either do it off the books and just get it done, or i can convince him that this works and people are doing "very spritied" driving on them without tubes, thanks for all your help duke.

if anyone has anymore input on this situation, please feel free to chime in

here is the story for the deep six and the TR415, you can use the tr415 but they are not all the same stems, some mfg. make the stem a bit skinnier than others so check a couple of sources (I found mine at Napa Auto parts) because the ones at my tire shop were tr415 but were from a different mfg. and when compared you could tell the difference. One had a narrow tapper and other was much fatter. as far as them pushing through the stem opening, yes even the fats stems will push thru albeit it is harder to do so. but they do work and thats what people are using. tubes not necessary.
