1977 Distributor? Need Help with ID

I'm trying to figure out if this is the correct distributor for my 1977. I can't see any numbers with it installed but the the rotor looks different that the bigger round one everyone seems to sell for the 2.7s.

Here are a few pics, maybe they will help someone hel me ID the thing. Does it look like a later one maybe??

Thanks,

Scott

Scott,

Looks like a correct 184-series distributor to me ...

Your rotor is the VW part without the rev-limiter function. A standard rev-limiting rotor will fit perfectly!

Looks like a good time to do some basic maintenance ... here is a thread with all of the info you need:

distributor lube...

Thanks Warren, it was that very post (lube above and below the felt) that got me poking around in there. That's when I noticed the VWish looking rotor and started to second-guess things.

Is the rev-limiter function just what it sounds like? It keeps us (me) from running the rpms too high? Are there any adverse affects to leaving this one in there if I'm not out racing it?
