Cost for exterior trim re-do?

Am kicking around ideas for my 84 targa, thinking of doing a semi-backdate with chrome trim instead of black, ducktail, lowered, new color, etc. Was just doing some browsing and noticed that chrome door handles are $250 EACH...at that cost replacing the trim on the whole car will be over $2000 just for parts. Anyone done this and have an idea of true cost? Can the black trim be chromed or used in some way?

250$ is for new chrome handles right? You can search and find chrome trim parts for sale here and ebay. It may take longer than buyin new but its cheaper. Swap meets and the internet should provide for a cheaper alternative to new chrome pieces and if they need rechrome its not that expensive.
