Electrical problem, Any help?
I noticed that my left tail light, the radio and one other thing have stopped working. I did as one had suggested and tried rotating the fuses around in their holder. That didn't work, so I replaced all of them with new fuses. again no luck. Wondered if a faulty relay might be the cause.
This is a '69 911. I had also noticed that the felt strip in the trunk had flipped up and caused a gap in the closing of the hood, above the fuse holder. It left a small gap, but, If moisture made it's way in would this have been a possible cause? Got to get it inspected this month and have the next 3 days off work to correct the problem. Any help, please post or email me. Thanks for your input! Gary cooperokiehomie@cs.com |
Gary,
You don't say which model 911 you have, but for the circuits you listed it doesn't matter ... Go to Sherwood Lee's site and download the two parts of the SL33 schematic diagram: http://members.rennlist.org/911pcars/WiringDiag.htm I suggest using HD rubbing compound or valve grinding compound on an old fuse [twist in place] to burnish the ends of the fuse block contacts until bright and shiny. Wipe or spray the fuse contact with Brakleen ... until all traces of the cleaner is gone. After the circuits are working properly ... apply Dow Corning 4, 111, or 112 Silicone Grease to all fuse ends and twirl the fuse to distribute the protective coating. |
If replacing the fuse didn't do the trick, take a look at the bulb. Some stereos also have their own fuse inline with the power cable.
