Rear sway bar drop link reinstall
Hi -
I just put in new bushings for my rear sway bar, drop link included, and am having issues popping the drop link back onto the control arm. It's the delrin-like bushing that pops over a ball joint-type deal on the control arm. Is there a secret in getting this to go - other than using a BFH and some grease? I don't want to hammer on it much harder w/out some sort of permission slip. Thanks, Tom |
Mine used to pop right in with little force before I replaced it completely; maybe because I needed new plastic bushings.

I think that I used a big "C" clamp and some grease, that's a little more civilized than a BFH and more controlled. this is from some one who uses BFHs all the time at work.;)

i use a large pry bar and a little leverage and pop it back into place...

definitely either a pry bar, or perhaps some large channel lock pliers. The BFH isn't as effective for this beotch of a procedure...

Try warming the bushing in hot water, then C clamp and grease

Thanks for the replies - I'll give the clamp method a try tomorrow.
