Question Car buying escrow service recommendations?

Does anybody have recommendations for an escrow company for a car purchase?

In case anyone is interested, I plan to use www.escrow.com based on:

1. http://www.carbuyingtips.com/ doing a rigorous job of making me neurotic about the subject. In particular they said: "The odds are 99 to 1 against you finding a legitimate escrow service.".

The site also said: "eBay uses an exclusive escrow service through Escrow.com, a licensed, audited escrow company incorporated in California."

The ebay site "http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/escrow.html" validates carbuyingtips' statement.

They also checked out okay on the Better Business Bureau site.

2. The fee is reasonable; just under 1% of the transaction value.

The seller did not want to release car without receiving funds (this is the way escrow.com operates) so I won't be using them.

i used escrow.com successfully to purchase a car from a fellow pelicanite.

if you also use their title service, that can help put the sellers mind at ease a bit.. they hold onto the title until the money is transferred. regardless, this process takes some faith on both ends.

good luck,

Bernie

All escrow should be the same. The funds must be received and cleared prior to release of the vehicle. Depending on the terms of the release, the buyer will receive the funds upon confirmation of delivery, shipment or your approval.
