Help: Oil fitting needed

To all,

I am looking for a 90 degree fitting that would come out of the thermostat then angle downward. I am installing headers and since I have a slantnose, which positions the thermostat to the rear of the wheel well, I have very little clearance between the thermostat and the oil tank to attach my new line.

Does anyone know where I can have a 90 degree fitting made with the 30mm metric male and female end made.

I tried American Hose and Fitting, but they don't have the right fittings with the proper pitch.

Blaine

Blaine,

Do they have two fittings, each of which has one of the ends that you can use? If so, buy both, have them cut them in half and weld the halves you need together into the fitting you need.

They dont even have the right fittings. I guess the thread pitch is unique.

Blaine,
Is this an aftermarket oil thermostat? The thermostat in my slant is positioned in the front of the rear wheelwell like the rest of the 911's. It is a b$#*! to get out. Removal of the torsion bar is required.
Can you provide a pic of the thermostat? Maybe it's a Mocal with AN fittings.

Its an 88 factory slantnose, so may be different than your special wishes car. I think elephant racing sells a 30mm to 16AN adapter that I could use, then source a 90 degree 16AN locally.

Here's a complete parts list off the PET, if you don't have access to the part numbers.

Do you need hose #2 above?

How long is it?

It looks like M30 with a 90 at one end & a straight on the other.

That is simple to make up as we don't have to worry about how its oriented from one end to the other.

These crimped lines won't twist, so if you have 90s at both ends the angles must be correct when they are crimped.

If you are uncertain of the length, I can crimp the 90 and send it loose at the other. You cut it to length & return it so it can be crimped.

A short hose like this will cost you $50 plus postage.

It will fit just the way it is supposed to.

I make up custom hoses for the shops building GT replicas where they want the original crimped hoses for authenticity.

PS- Here is a link on this type of hose repair or replacement:

I hope this helps.

Len,

I am not looking for #2. Already have it. I am installing B&B headers and the line supplied with the install kit has a 30mm female fitting, but won't thread straight on due to the 5 inch clearance issue with my oil tank. The 7/8" stainless hose wont bend tight enough.

If i could get a 90, with a female 30mm on the one side to attach to the thermostat, and a male on the other to attach to the female B&B hose I would be happy. I could then redirect to avoid the obstacle. Can you do that? Are you fitting 30mm fine thread 1.5 pitch? What company are you with?

I have the standard Porsche 30mm x 1.5 pitch oil fittings.

I can give you 90 deg at one end.

How long & what fitting do you want on the other end?

I only have the Porsche metric fittings.

The crimps are what you see in this pic:

I can make them in either the 30mm (Late) or 22mm (early) sizes, any length.

Check the link above for more info.

Can you do a solid 90 with a male on one end and a female on the other, without any hose?

Blaine

PS- Nice website. Cool stuff.

There must be a short piece of hose in order to connect them.

If we weld the fittings together the plating must be removed at the weld point.

Then they would have to be re-plated in yellow zinc to keep them from rusting.

We did this for Auto Associates for a custom front oil cooler, but they wanted a "factory original look" appearance.

I will post some photos tomorrow of the fittings available.

Sounds like that may provide a real factory look. How much would that cost? Also, do you have a 30mm male adapter to attach two 30mm females? Sorry to ask so many questions.

This is what I came up with:

Its as short as I can make it & still be able to crimp it.

Fitment length, center of tank fitting to whatever it goes to is about 150mm.

I have lots of other hose assemblies available as shown here:

If this works, PM me with shipping info.

Len

Oops, I realized you want a Female 90 and a Male straight.

I will get back to you later.

Blaine,

I only have a Male M22 x 1.5 to show you right now, but I can find the Male M30 fitting if its what you want.

I hope this will help.

Len - Do you have any fittings that would work for the fuel return line on a '96 carrera 2 or happen to know what size they are?

Need something to go from my new Aeromotive FPR to the factory return line.

I am not clear on what you need. Does the new FPR have metric threads?

The normal fuel hose is 15.5 or 16 mm OD with a 9.5 inside dimension.

It uses a 14 x 1.5 mm thread.

I have metric fittings for this size & both larger & smaller. I can make up crimped hoses in either rubber or braided stainless, and yes it is metric sized hose.

Give me some dimensions and I will try to help.

Have you ever repaired the $361 (was $532) main fuel line on the motronic cars?

Don't need it now but wish I knew about this a couple of months ago.

How much does the equipment cost to crimp this type of fitting?

I have not, but we have discussed doing it.

We must make a fixture to locate the "T" line & crimp the hoses & ends in the right orientation.

I am making a wild guess that it would cost about $100 to repair.

It was about $5,000 US twenty yrs ago when we brought the stuff back from Germany.
