Question Anybody tried the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport?

It's getting close to time for new rubber and I noticed that there is finally a new 15 inch 60 series tire on the market, the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport. I love my Bridgestone S03s and would not expect these to perform at that level. But I would like the look of a 60 series tire on my early car with 15x7s and it may help the ride a little after the new stiff torsion bars and shocks. Plus, at $65 a tire I could put the difference in cost from the S03 toward a set of sticky tires for track and autocross.

Anybody have any experience the this new BFG?

I have not used them myself. It is supposed to be a pretty good tire and I have heard really good things about them. The feedback was that it's a great dry tire and second tier wet tire. It's not as good of a wet tire as say a BFG KDW or Mich. Pilot PS2 is...but those are significantly more money.

Thanks, I saw similar reviews on Tire Rack's site but I never know if they're just trying to push the tires they got deals on.

Anyone else?

I've got BFG G-Force Sports on my 87 3.2 Cab. Bought them from Tire rack, 225/60/15 on the rear and 205/60/15 on the front. I don't track the car or drive in the rain so I can't speak to those situations but everyday aggressive driving they are great. If you've got 15 inch Fuchs then the options are very limited.

Hey Tom,

Just a thought that occurs upon viewing the pictures.

There are two radial grooves, and rather small "blocks" between the outer-middle area of the tire. With such characteristics, these shouod be better rain tires than dry, expecially for the track. For dry track work you'd want as large blocks as possible, and you dfon't need the radial grooves, which are for dispersing rain behind you.

Check out the really great dry tires that most people use for the track, and you'll see that the ratio of void to rubber should be as small as possible (i.e., little void, lots of rubber, ). In order to be DOT legal, there has to be some void, so manufacturers try to get to the legally-allowed void limit.

And since most autocrosses are cancelled when it rains, these might work for you.

Finally, with the 60 series aspect ratio, there will be more compliance in the sidewalls, thus helping your stiff suspension settings. But not for autocrossing, since you'll also have more flex in sideways transitions.

Once again, all tires are a compromise between handling and ride comfort. There is no one perfect tire for both - just a better or less good compromise.

Hope this helps.

I've got them on my 930 street wheels. I bought them after burning through a set of Toyo T1-S rear tires in about 10k miles (aligned for the track). I've only got about 2k street miles on them but so far they aren't showing any wear. This weekend I was doing a DE and after running on Hoosiers all day I put on my street wheels for the drive home, well they opened up another session so I went out on my BFGs and I was very impressed with how well they stuck. I didn't push as hard as I would have with the Hoosiers but considering the high tread life ratings of this tire I thought they were great. I bought them at Costco for basically the same price as Tirerack.

I read a lot of great reviews online and went ahead and got them today for my '89 911. They were $487 installed at a local tire shop. Compared to over $800 for Michelin MXM's! So far they feel great. Just street, no track.

Garage
I recently bought 205/60x15's for my 15x6's and had Al Reed install them after he restored my wheels. I haven't installed the wheels on the car as it is still in the paint shop but all the positive things you guys have said makes me feel good about the purchase.

Somewhere here in an old thread Steve Weiner gave an opinion that they looked worth a try to him...and the price was definitely right, so I took the plunge.
