Convertible Top Motor
Does anyone know where to get parts for the convertible top motor? On the passenger side, the motor works but the latch does not move. I've had the unit apart and know exactly what gear got stripped (due to old age) and would just like to replace the gear, not the whole top motor assembly and transmision.
I'm talking about the motor on the front edge of the top, the one that locks it down to the front windshield. Thanks, Don |

Don, Pretty sure these parts are not available separately. You can only buy the entire top locking motor assembly. If you get lucky someone might have the parts. I went through this on my '91 and found a pair of used motors. Mine snapped the worm gear. Sometimes the brass gear fails too. Very frustrating.

In my case, the worm gear began to spin freely inside the brass gear. After an epoxy fix, which held for about a year, the brass gear also failed.
